What and why?
What powerful knowledge do you want to share given your school vision? Participants will consider how each subject's unique construct is created and contested.
Breaking it down
Thinking about the specific declarative and knowledge, given the knowledge pupils already have to avoid repeating content each year.
Focus
Think about the key concepts and important knowledge in your curriculum that you will keep coming back to. You will think about what content you want pupils to practice and study in depth.
Progression
Look at how content will be gradually acquired to prevent cognitive overload whilst creating a challenging curriculum. How and when you will use formative assessment to meet pupil needs?
Pace and space
Learn to think strategically about sequencing curriculum content by revisiting previous learning and creating opportunities for learning in depth, and applying in practice.
Coherence
Participants will think about and address the connections within and between areas of learning. Ensure the intended curriculum as well as how you intend to assess impact are aligned.
Orient attention
Develop the expertise required to orient your pupils attention to value curriculum content and consider how this can be linked to their existing knowledge and experience.
Bigger picture/finer detail
Learn how to develop pupils mental models through the accumulation of well-connected knowledge and develop depth through relating certain content to key concepts.
Variation in action
Providing pupils with varied multiple variations will enable them to construct mental models containing abstract information to then transfer knowledge to different contexts.
