DfE expands free development and training

Oct. 12, 2021

Teachers in all state schools in England can now get access to FREE training and development, thanks to a huge investment in Department for Education (DfE) funding.

Today the government announced that all six National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) will be free for all state schools, following a previous announcement in June of £184 million of new funding.

Ambition Institute is one of the providers of the new NPQs, working with a vast network of high-quality delivery partners.

Hilary Spencer, our chief executive, said: “All six NPQs are now free for most teachers and school leaders – this is a great way to support teachers and leaders across the school system.

“This investment in professional development, which builds on and supports the new frameworks for early career teachers, will help build a strong ‘golden thread’ through a teacher’s career.

“A great teacher changes the future every day, especially for children who’ve had a tough start in life. And it’s never been more important for every single pupil to be taught by an expert teacher, in a school led by an expert school leader.

“It is fantastic that all state schools in England will get access to such high-quality professional development at no cost.

“We’re working with thousands of teachers through our network of delivery partners. Those high-quality teaching school hubs and delivery partners are already accelerating the learning of thousands of teachers across the country.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming even more teachers and leaders to our programmes in the coming months.”
