Accessibility statement for Ambition Institute

At Ambition Institute, we believe everyone should be able to access the information and services on our website, regardless of the technology they use or their individual needs.

Our mission

We are dedicated to creating an inclusive digital experience that is available to all. We see accessibility as a shared responsibility and a core part of our commitment to shaping the future of education. We follow best practice accessibility guidelines, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium, and work to ensure every page of our site meets the AA level of compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2.

Standards compliance

Accessibility is embedded in the way we design, build and maintain our website. We keep accessibility at the forefront of our decision-making, drawing on the latest guidance and advances in digital inclusion. Our team regularly reviews and updates the site to reflect best practice, and we consider accessibility from the earliest stages of every project.

What we are doing to improve

We believe accessibility should be second nature and underpin all of our digital products and services. Our team takes a proactive approach, regularly participating in training and awareness sessions to keep knowledge and skills up to date. We design with everyone in mind, considering features such as clear text, intuitive navigation, larger clickable areas (protected hit areas) to make links and buttons easier to select, and adaptable layouts.

We use a combination of automated and manual testing, covering a wide range of assistive technologies and all major user journeys. We have commissioned an independent accessibility audit against WCAG 2.2 standards, and we will use the findings to guide further improvements. Our approach is informed by real user experiences, and we are always looking for ways to make our website more accessible.

Accessibility features

Our website includes a range of features to support different ways of accessing content by using Accessibe functionality which is on the website and fully customisable by individuals:

  • Customisation options: Adjust text size, font, spacing, alignment and line height.
  • Colour and contrast settings: Select from a variety of colour profiles, including light, dark, inverted and monochrome, and adjust schemes for titles, text and backgrounds.
  • Keyboard navigation: Use the site efficiently with keyboard shortcuts and skip links.
  • Screen reader compatibility: The site works with popular screen readers and includes ARIA attributes for meaningful navigation.
  • Content highlighting: Highlight links, titles and elements in focus or on hover.
  • Animation and audio controls: Pause animations and mute audio as needed.
  • Assistive technology support: Compatible with a wide range of assistive technologies and modern browsers.

We continue to develop and enhance these features as technology and user needs evolve.

Scope of this statement

This statement applies to the entire Ambition Institute website. While we strive to make all our content accessible, there may be occasions where third-party tools, content or documents are beyond our direct control. We work closely with our partners and suppliers to encourage high standards of accessibility throughout.

Continuous improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing process. We regularly review our website to identify and address any potential barriers. As we receive feedback and as technology advances, we will continue to update and improve our website to maintain and enhance accessibility.

Exemptions and disproportionate burden

In rare cases, there may be elements of our website that are not immediately accessible, particularly where third-party content or tools are involved. Where this occurs, we will do our best to provide alternative ways to access essential information and welcome feedback to help us address any challenges.
