Ambition Institute named as early career framework lead provider

March 1, 2021

Today the Department for Education announced that Ambition Institute is one of the lead providers for the early career framework (ECF), which will support more than 25,000 new teachers every year.

The ECF sets out what all new teachers need to know and be able to do as they begin their careers.

Our CEO, Hilary Spencer, welcomes the news:

“It’s an honour to be named as a lead provider of the early career framework. This framework has huge potential for the teaching profession.

“Every child should be taught by an expert teacher working in a school led by expert leaders – and every teacher should have access to high quality professional development. This framework will help teachers at a crucial moment early on in their careers, supporting them to have an even greater impact in their classrooms and schools.

“The evidence tells us that excellent teaching is crucial for tackling disadvantage. By increasing access to high quality professional development for more than 25,000 newly qualified teachers each year, we can move closer to an education system where every child can thrive, no matter what their background.

“In the last two years, we’ve supported more than 5,000 early career teachers and their mentors through our pilot and early roll-out of the framework. Our participants have told us that our evidence-based design and support have been invaluable as they start their journey in education. We’re excited to work with more teachers, schools and new teaching school hubs to support their development next year.”
