Ambition Institute’s Initial Teacher Training programme receives ‘strong’ rating from Ofsted

This recognition is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our trainees, mentors and lead partners. Since launching the programme with our partners, over 1,300 trainees have begun their teaching careers, making a positive difference in classrooms across the country.

Ofsted’s ‘strong’ rating reflects the excellent, consistent practice within our programme that makes a genuinely positive difference to trainees.

The inspection report highlighted several key strengths of our programme:

• “The curriculum has been expertly designed by leaders with the most pertinent research” with “deliberate attention given to the sequence of trainees' learning and how their skills and confidence should be nurtured over time.”
• “Inclusion is the cornerstone of the curriculum. It is skilfully interwoven throughout the subject and professional studies aspects of the course. Through thoughtful engagement with research, taught sessions, and guided practice in school, trainees learn the art of quality first teaching.”
• “The programme makes it clear that there is a pathway into teaching for all, with support provided to assure success for trainees, irrespective of their barriers or needs.”
• “Trainees feel well supported by leaders and staff at all levels. Completion rates are consistently high, and the programme is very effective at supporting trainees to achieve qualified teacher status and a postgraduate certificate in education. Overall, trainees are very well prepared for their future teaching careers.”

We know that supporting teachers early in their careers is pivotal, and we are committed to ensuring our programme equips them to make a positive difference for every pupil, no matter their background. We will continue to work with our partners and trainees to shape the future of teacher development.
